  New River is in SW Virginia   New River Marketing Research focuses on all aspects of Linux (Linux Practice Description)), open source, commercial grid computing (Grid Practice Description ), SMB markets, and service oriented architectures (SOAs). We provide marketing research to vendors in the form of market analysis, primary research, objective total cost of ownership studies, competitive analysis, and consulting. In general, we are interested in helping IT managers reduce cost/complexity while retaining flexibility.

Our written products range from white papers to reports to summaries of primary research studies. We provide high quality research at a very reasonable price.

New River Marketing Research is owned and operated by Dr. Bill Claybrook, former Research Director, Linux, Open Source, and Grid Computing at Aberdeen Group in downtown Boston. The Linux Publications page (see the link below) presents refencences to previous work. Bill holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Bio and Resume ) and has been in the computer industry in various positions for over 40 years. He is currently the Senior Contributing Analyst for LinuxWorld Magazine, a monthly, hardcopy periodical that focuses on Linux.

On the Web Forum page (see the link below), we will post short articles that comment on current and important happenings in the Linux, open source, and grid computing communities, and in other areas of the computer industry. We will try, time permitting, to post two or three articles per week.
